A former Senior Partner of Haworth & Nuttall, Solicitors and son of one of the two founders of the firm has sadly passed away.
John Haworth’s sudden departure took place after he suffered a severe heart attack while out walking in the countryside with his wife Margaret. He was 79 years of age.
Representatives from Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall attended a memorial service held at Pleasington Crematorium on January 15, when many gathered to express their fondness for the well-known Blackburn figure.
John joined his father at the Blackburn office of Haworth & Nuttall in the early 1950s and retired from the Partnership in 2003. He continued to work as a Consultant for many years thereafter and only gave up working part-time in 2010.
He specialised in Conveyancing, company work, Wills and Trusts but at the beginning of his career dealt with many more aspects of the Law, helping lots of individuals, families and businesses in the area.
Former Senior Partner of Haworth & Nuttall David McCraith said: “It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to such an invaluable former colleague. His love for life and commitment to the firm will always be remembered.
“The memorial service was very well attended which demonstrates how popular he was with family, friends and those who were privileged enough to know him. He will be sorely missed.”
A keen sportsman, John particularly enjoyed rugby and golf. He played rugby for Blackburn Rugby Club for several years and was a member at Pleasington Golf Club from 1950 onwards. He played to a single handicap and served as a Director to the Pleasington Golf Links Company Limited for many years.
John was also very keen on bird watching and travelled far and wide in pursuit of this hobby enjoying specialist holidays abroad on a regular basis. He was the Secretary of Blackburn Bird Club for many years.
