Lawyers drive charity efforts for hospice

An annual golf event, organised by law firm, Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall has raised £6,000 for charity.

The event, now in its seventh year, saw 18 businesses from across East Lancashire compete at Rossendale Golf Club.

The £6,000 proceeds which include £1,450 generated from raffle prizes and auction will go towards the charity’s aim to provide free palliative care for people diagnosed with cancer and other degenerative non-malignant illness.

The overall winning team was Demolition Bandits captained by Derek Nuttall.

Derek commented: “As usual everyone had an excellent time and it’s great to hear how our efforts will benefit Rossendale Hospice as it continues to provide care for thousands of local people.”

Senior partner at Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall, David McCann, added: “As patrons of the charity and a firm committed to its community, we understand how the Hospice is challenged to keep specialist services up and running.

“This event has become a key date in the calendar with lots of business men and women enquiring about next year’s event, we hope it continues to bring businesses’ fundraising efforts together.”

Rossendale Hospice is a registered charity founded in 1988 and is based on Bacup Road in Rawtenstall, Lancashire.
