Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall Solicitors has handed a £3,000 donation to Rossendale Hospice after its annual charity gold day was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The event, organised by WHN, would have been in its 13th year and had been planned for June 10 at its regular home of Rossendale Golf Club.

Over more than a decade, the event, which is attended by teams from across the area’s business community, has raised more than £60,000 for the hospice.

Last year more than 80 keen golfers took part, enjoying a range of competitions and prizes.

Directors at the law firm were determined not to let the event’s cancellation stop them from helping the hospice.

Daniel Long, a director at WHN Solicitors, said: “The annual golf day is one that is usually thoroughly enjoyed by our staff, clients and contacts alike – even more so because of the great cause it supports.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be possible to arrange it this year, but we wanted to continue to help the hospice which is still offering vital support to the community at what is a very difficult time.

“We’d like to thank all those who were due to take part in the golf day – and we look forward to holding the next competition when we can.”
