WHN has appointed Diane Matthews as a specialist legal executive in its family law team.
Diane, who is based across the firm’s Blackburn and Accrington offices, specialises in divorce and separation, including the dissolution of civil partnerships.
She is widely experienced in the complex legal field of dividing family business assets, resolving financial and property disputes for unmarried families, pre-nuptial agreements, and cohabitation agreements.
She joins WHN from Watson Ramsbottom and will work closely with head of family law David Connor. In addition, Diane has worked extensively on family law issues with Police Federation members and has specialist knowledge of this niche area.
David Connor, who is also a director at WHN Solicitors, commented: “Diane is an accomplished and highly successful professional and I am sure she will play a key role in our ongoing growth strategy.
“She has broad experience in financial remedy proceedings, is committed to a non-confrontational approach, and provides constructive and sensible advice, so she’s well placed to drive WHN forward.”
Born and raised in Scotland, Diane moved to Lytham St Annes with her parents when she was 18. Her first job was as a legal secretary at a local firm of solicitors. After qualifying as a legal executive in 1990, Diane went on to specialise in family law at a number of North West legal practices.
She took a career break in 2001 to look after her sons, Alex and Cameron, before resuming her legal career in 2012 and joining Watson Ramsbottom in 2016.
Diane added: “WHN is a firm with an impressive – and deserved – reputation, and I look forward to working with David to further develop the family team. Another factor that attracted me to WHN is their professional ethos and commitment to getting the very best results for all clients.”
